LIZARDS FIRST GAME |
FIRST GAME ROSTER - TBA |
Sewickley, Pa. - May 29 - The inaugural game of the Morgantown Lizards
got off to a great start at Quaker Valley Stadium on Sunday versus Pittsburgh's
Three Rivers Lacrosse (3RL). Da Lizards David
Campbell scored the game's first goal with an assist from Andy Koepke. Three
Rivers outlasted the Lizards for a 13-9 victory. The Morgantown team held the
lead throughout the first quarter with goals by Rob Miranov, Corey Snyder, and
Andy Koepke. Penalty trouble and the heat began to take is toll on the
understaffed team as 3RL pulled ahead in the second quarter and kept the lead
for the remainder of the game. Da Lizards take their unique name from their sponsor, Da Lazy Lizard, a bar on High Street in Morgantown. The owner of the bar paid for the team's jerseys, but sadly, the bar is not open during the summer, so the team has had to hold it's post game meetings elsewhere. Da Lizards hope to host Three Rivers for a rematch in a few weeks at Morgantown High, but the date has not yet been set.
